Prix de la SSP
Le SSP attribue depuis 1991 des prix pour des travaux de recherche de qualité exceptionnelle à des jeunes physiciens. La SSP, avec ces prix dans différents domaines, octroyés par des institutions et des entreprises renommées, souhaite continuer à apporter sa contribution à la haute qualité de la recherche en Suisse.
The winners of the SPS Awards 2026 have been selected
The SPS Award committee, chaired ad interim by Prof. Ilaria Zardo, selected the winners for 2026. The high level of all submitted works proves the scientific qualification of the younger generation of physicists in Switzerland. In combination with the high number of nominations it was therefore not at all easy to make a decision.
The six winners are as follows:
SPS Award in General Physics, sponsored by ABB Schweiz AG: | Alexa Herter (ETH Zürich), for Individual detection of correlations arising from vacuum fluctuations and source radiation |
SPS Award in Condensed Matter Physics, sponsored by IBM Research GmbH: | Giacomo Sala (Université de Genève & PSI Villigen) for his Pioneering contributions to the understanding of quantum transport phenomena in the nascent fields of orbitronics and quantum geometry |
SPS Award with relation to Metrology, sponsored by Metas: | Konstantin Herb (ETH Zürich) for his work on Nitrogen–Vacancy Centers as Versatile and Time Resolving Quantum Sensors for Nanoscale Metrology |
SPS Award in Computational Physics, sponsored by COMSOL Multiphysics GmbH: | Donato Francesco Falcone (ETH Zürich & IBM Rüschlikon) for his Computational and experimental contributions to novel energy-efficient computing architectures beyond the von Neumann bottleneck |
SPS Award in the field of Sensing, Detection and Monitoring, sponsored by Sensirion AG: | Kostiantyn Sakhatskyi (ETH Zürich) for his work on Next-generation radiation sensors and imaging detectors based on metal halide perovskites (MHPs), a group of emerging semiconductor and scintillator materials |
SPS Award in Quantum Science and Technology, sponsored by ID Quantique: | Ivan Rojkov (ETH Zürich & Yale) for his work on Nonlinear reservoir engineering for the stabilization, protection, and manipulation of quantum information |
Unfortunately, the SPS Award with relation to Energy Technology, sponsored by Hitachi Energy Switzerland AG, could not be given this year.
The winners will each give a talk on their work at the Annual Meeting in Lausanne. More details on the winners and their work will be also presented in the next issue of the SPG Mitteilungen.
