Commission: Young Physicists Forum (YPF)

Commission foundation: 2012

The Young Physicists Forum (YPF) was established in 2012 as commission of the SPS, after it had already existed for nearly two years as loose compound of most Swiss physics students organisations (founding members: (VMP (ETHZ), Les Irrotationnels (EPFL), FG 14 (Uni Basel, now Fachgruppe Physik), FPA (Uni Bern), Fachschaft Physique (Uni Fribourg), AEP (Uni Genève)).
The Forum's goals are to encourage communication between student societies in physics and professional physicist members of the SPS and in addition create a platform to discuss issues of common interest and organize various events such as visits and seminars.
Events had already started in 2010 before the formal creation of the commission with visits organized with the student associations, i.e to PSI, and the TCV tokamak at EPFL.

The "Careers for physicists" days, introduced in 2011 in collaboration with the PGZ, are by now also popular and recurring events, where students can learn about the numerous career possibilities in academia, industry and other fields.
